Health Sciences Student Organizations

College is about more than classes and exams. It's also a chance to meet new people, get involved, and prepare for your future career. 91ÁÔÆæ offers more than 100 registered student organizations, many of which are closely linked to health sciences. No matter your major, there is a group for you!

Lambda Nu

Lambda Nu is the national honor society for radiologic and imaging sciences, recognizing students who show strong academic achievement.

This society supports high academic standards, research, and new discoveries in the field. It also aims to recognize outstanding student work and supports opportunities for further study.

To be selected as a candidate for membership into Lambda Nu is a prestigious honor. Only those students meeting the national and chapter eligibility criteria are invited to join.

Radiography Student Association (RSA)

If you're studying radiography, RSA gives you a chance to connect with classmates outside the classroom. The group meets each month to plan social events, raise money, and take part in community service.

RSA also supports students in attending the Arkansas State Radiologic Technologist Conference each spring. At the conference, students compete in academic events against other radiography programs across the state.

Membership is only open to students enrolled in the 91ÁÔÆæ radiography program.

Student American Dental Hygienists' Association (SADHA)

If dental hygiene is your field, SADHA helps you connect with the wider dental profession. This group is linked to both the Arkansas Dental Hygienists' Association and the American Dental Hygienists' Association. As a professional association, SADHA also speaks up for dental hygiene students and works to protect their interests.

Membership helps you stay up to date with changes in your field while also providing access to professional publications such as the Journal of Dental Hygiene and Access magazine. Other benefits offered after graduation can include discounts on insurance, car rentals, loans, and courses for continued learning.

Membership is only offered to students enrolled in the 91ÁÔÆæ dental hygiene program.

Surgical Technology Student Association (STSA)

Interested in becoming a surgical technologist? STSA helps students support one another and learn more about their chosen profession. This group works to improve education, support the health of the public, and promote the role of surgical technology student. Its work centers on three ideas: education, action, and service.

Full membership is only offered to students currently enrolled in the 91ÁÔÆæ surgical technology program. Students taking required courses before entering the program may join as non-voting associate members.

Student Nurses Association (SNA)

Nursing school can be demanding, so connect with other nursing students can make a difference. The 91ÁÔÆæ Student Nurses Association helps nursing students grow as future professionals as part of both the Arkansas Nursing Students Association and the National Student Nurses Association.

Members can access nursing publications, save money on study tools, and receive discounts on annual and mid-year conferences. SNA membership is also a way to meet professionals in the nursing field and build connections that may help with your future career.

Membership is limited to students currently enrolled in a 91ÁÔÆæ program that leads to a registered nurses license.

Sigma Theta Tau - Alpha Gamma Zeta Chapter

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing recognizes nursing students who demonstrate strong academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to their profession.

The Alpha Gamma Zeta Chapter at 91ÁÔÆæ, established in 2024, gives members opportunities to connect with nursing professionals around the world, explore research, and continue their education. Members also receive recognition during induction and graduation.

Membership is by invitation online. Students are selected based on their academic performance and leadership potential.

Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED)

If you're thinking about medical school or another health profession, Alpha Epsilon Delta can help you prepare for the next step. This honor society is for students planning to apply to professional health programs.

AED focuses on helping students prepare for admission into advanced healthcare programs such as medicine, veterinary medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dentistry, optometry, and pharmacy.

Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPMS)

If you're interested in medical school, MAPMS can help you prepare and connect with people who understand the journey. This group helps 91ÁÔÆæ students connect with the Student National Medical Association chapter at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

One of its goals is to help increase diversity in the medical field. Members can take part in personal statement workshops, receive one-on-one guidance from current medical students, and prepare for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

MAPMS also offers volunteer opportunities, giving members a chance to support their community while building career skills.

Pre-Student Osteopathic Medical Association (PSOMA)

Curious about osteopathic medicine? PSOMA helps students learn more about this approach to medical care by connecting students with professionals in the medical community. These connections can help students as they explore medical school and other health-related programs.

This group is open to both 91ÁÔÆæ students and people in the surrounding area.
